About
Anthony M. Laura is an independent filmmaker and published playwright known for writing, producing, and directing his own work. He has been an avid film buff since a very young age and has always been fascinated with stories involving women.
Anthony has been inspired by such greats as Peter Bogdanovich, Woody Allen, Todd Haynes, John Cassavetes, David Lynch. His love of film also lead him to be heavily influenced by foreign filmmakers such as Ingmar Bergman, Robert Bresson, Francois Truffaut, Agnes Varda, and Bernardo Bertolucci. and James L. Brooks.
Anthony trained in Filmmaking at the New York Film Academy and Full Sail University. He has also taken workshops and classes with Robert McKee, Christopher Vogler, Judith Weston, Karen Kohlhass, Sarah Ruhl, and John Truby.
Anthony is the Founder of the Theater & Film company Face to Face Films. A company created in order to focus on smaller stories about real people. It's his hope as a filmmaker to take stories about people that are not regularly understood and give them a voice.
Theater
Anthony has written, produced, and directed several original plays including
'The Purple Room' and the 'The Girl With The Red Hair'.
He also created the online reading series, 'Theater, Interrupted' during the COVID-19 pandemic as a way to bring new and previously produced work to audiences featuring the ensemble at Face To Face.
Anthony is currently working on a new original play, 'Shadows' for performances in December 2023.
Film
Focusing on women led stories and mental illness, Anthony has written and directed 3 feature films and several short films (including The Isolation Trilogy).
He also has and continues to work on several web-series and is excited about forming a universe with original characters in his dramatic and comedic work.
